Asia Argento was born in Rome, Italy, into a family of actors and filmmakers. Both professions she has herself taken up. In 1985, she made her debut in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, she was the lead role in Cristina Comencini's first feature film Zoo (1988), as well as being part of Michele Soavi's ensemble in The Church (1989).
